Applying ZixGateway and ZixDirect Patches

Once you have backed up your existing ZixGateway files, you must then apply the downloaded patch file to each appliance. Instructions for applying each individual patch are listed below, beginning with the most recent. Select the menu with your specific patch version for more information on applying the patch to your ZixGateway appliance.

The update process takes approximately thirty minutes and includes a reboot.

ClosedVersion 6.3.2 Patches
ClosedZG632_Patch3
1. Open the ZG632_Patch3.zip file that you downloaded from https://support.zixcorp.com.
2. Extract the patch file vpmupd-6.3.2_100.3.tar.gz into a shared network folder visible to your ZixGateway appliance.
3. Using WinSCP:
a. Import your SSH keys
b. Upload the vpmupd-6.3.2_100.3.tar.gz file to the /tmp directory in your ZixGateway version.
4. Using a console (KVM) or SHH/PuTTY connection, log in to your ZixGateway system as zixadmin.
5. Run the sudo -i command.
6. On your ZixGateway system, enter the following command:

mv /tmp/vpmupd-6.3.2_100.3.tar.gz ~

7. Open the vpmupd-6.3.2_100.3.tar.gz file using the following command:

tar xvzf vpmupd-6.3.2_100.3.tar.gz

The system displays the following confirmation:

[root@mx1 ~]# tar xvzf vpmupd-6.3.2_100.3.tar.gz

updates.tar.gz

runonce-patch

updatevpm

8. When the system prompt returns, run the update with ./updatevpm.

The update displays its progress to the screen. See the sample update below.

[root@mx1 patch]# ./updatevpm

9. Repeat the steps above for each ZixGateway and ZixDirect Web appliance in your network.
10. Log in to ZixGateway Manager and Deploy and Cycle to complete the installation.

The ZixGateway patch has now been applied. The minimum TLS version is now set to what the selected version of TLS was before the patch was installed and can be changed at any time under the System tab in ZixGateway Manager.

All ZixGateway and ZixDirect Web appliances are now updated and email is being processed. The ZixGateway6.3.2 patch update is now complete.
